Yup, it's time to talk baseball playoffs. While most people are fidgeting with their fantasy football rosters, or scratching their head at the college football polls (we'll get to that tomorrow), the MLB division series playoffs begin on Wednesday at ballparks across the country.
The Rockies just snuck in last night by beating the Padres in an extra-innings thriller. The winning run wasn't even scored, that's how crazy it was! Well, it was technically scored. We'll gloss over the minor detail of home plate not actually being tagged.
Ok, now for my Nostradamus-like predictions. We won't mention that before the season started, I only predicted 2 of these 8 squads would make the playoffs. Nope, I see no reason to bring that up.
Red Sox vs The Angels
With the best record in the AL, Boston has earned home-field throughout the playoffs. I think that's pretty important, considering the atmosphere at Fenway Park, and the crazies that will come out. That said, this should be a helluva series. I see it going 4 or 5 games, with the Angels advancing to the ALCS. For the most part, Boston hobbled into the playoffs. While the Angels quietly ran away with West. I see Boston winning the first Game 1, and then falling to Mike Scioscia's club as the series progresses. Can't wait for the first game. A stellar pitching match-up, with Cy Young quality pitchers in Beckett and Lackey going head-to-head.
Yankees vs Indians
The Yankees go into the playoffs running on all cylinders, with an impressive finish to the season. A-Rod has had an ungodly couple of months here, and it certainly looks as though he should exercise his playoff performance demons in this series. That said, I can't see the Yanks defeating the Indians. The Tribe is just stacked all over the place with talent. CC Sabathia is the best pitcher in the game right now, though he may lose the Cy to Beckett. Where the Yankees are tired and downright elderly at certain positions, the Indians are bright, energetic, and damn talented. I see a 3 game series, with the Tribe rolling over the Bronx Bombers.

Hey Hey Hey, Good Bye.
