Playoffs: NL Style!

While the Mets are at home playing X-Box, the big boys in the NL will be squaring off in NLDS match-ups this week. Colorado is the obvious Cinderella story this year, with the Phillies not far behind. Actually the NL playoffs are full of fresh faces this year, with the Cubs facing the Arizona in the opposite match-up. Colorado has been the hottest by far, but all these teams have momentum entering the playoffs. Here's how I see it going down...

Rockies vs Phillies -

The Rockies were basically the anti-Mets during the last few weeks of the regular season. Where the Mets couldn't seem to win a game, the Rockies simply could not lose. They are hitting out of their minds (see last night's game), and probably playing way way over their heads. I see a fun series, with Philadelphia edging out Colorado in a 5 game series.

Cubs vs Diamondbacks -

You gotta love the Cubs. That is, unless you don't. They're the lone lovable losers now that Boston has a WS under their belt. And what happened after Boston won a title? Besides 90% of the citizens of New England getting wasted? They became one of the most annoying teams in the league, almost overnight. Something tells me if the Cubs were to somehow win a title, they'd be the most annoying sports franchise in history, instantly. I'm not sure why I feel this way, just a hunch.

But back to the lecture at hand. This is another tight series that could go either way. Arizona has home field advantage (which almost works in Chicago's favor, considering the amount of bad playoff luck wrapped up in The Friendly Confines), but in this series I don't think that holds much weight. I like Arizona's pitching more, so I give the edge to the D'Backs. Probably another 5 game series.
